By the initiative of Europe Business Assembly (EBA Oxford, United Kingdom) from the 12 to 15th October 2014 a major international event took place in South-East Britain - 'Summit of Leaders: Science and Education’.

Held at Oxford town hall the Summit of Leaders is an interactive platform for international cooperation. Since 2000 it has been held in the hearts of the world scientific community. During these years it has been attended by more than 6000 delegates from 56 countries.

With more than a hundred participants, among them - members of parliament, representatives of ministries, scientists, city managers, business organizations and higher educational institutions from thirty countries were accredited at the event.

The summit was opened with welcome address from Europe Business Assembly Director General John Netting. The keynote speech, ‘The Brain of the Future: The Changing Impact of the 21st Century University, The Role of the 21st Century University' was delivered by Baroness Susan Greenfield CBE, Professor of Pharmacology at Oxford University, a neuroscientist, writer, broadcaster, member of the House of Lords, UK. During the plenary session participants discussed the issues related to new opportunities and innovations in education.

The presentations of academic programmes projects and international cooperation development programmes have expanded opportunities for academic and scientific cooperation. Several Sections included: ‘University of the future’; ‘Effective forms of education, science and production integration’; ‘Improving the educational process’ and were moderated by John Netting, Director General of Europe Business Assembly, Prof. Garry Jacobs, Chief Executive Officer, World University Consortium, World Academy of Art & Science, United States, Tricia Alegra Jenkins, MBE, Director, International Centre for Excellence in Educational Opportunities, The University of Liverpool, UK, Prof. Vincent Ado Tenebe, Vice Chancellor, National Open University of Nigeria, FCM, J.P., Nigeria.

In the framework of the Summit the Memorandum on The Academic Union (AU)  was signed by more than 60 Summit participants. AU is a joint initiative of the Club of the Rectors of Europe, Europe Business Assembly and its partners to consolidate the efforts of scientists and educators on science and education development in the XXIst century.

In accordance with tradition, the highlight of the summit was the ‘Socrates Award Ceremony’. A celebratory inauguration of the winners of international awards on 14th October, 2014 in the Main Hall of the Oxford Town Hall. The outstanding representatives of various educational establishments were nominated for prestigious awards of high professional achievement in their fields of activity.

A festive Gala Dinner in honor of the guests of the summit was held afterwards.
