Best academic websiteThe contest is open to:    

Internet university websites where information is accessible for assessment during the competition. Websites with advertising of non-educational purposes will not be considered.


The entrants should:

  • submit their entry online no later than 15 November 2013; and
  • indicate the website address.

The winner for this category will be decided in accordance with the following criteria:

  • Design: overall mapping, effective use of interactive and multimedia technologies(graphics, visuals, sounds, video, databases, etc.), and the text on the site is easily readable in terms of font, size and colour scheme.
  • Content:
  • the site is not cluttered with advertising that overshadows its content
  • the site contains a wealth of information and deserves more than one visit
  • the content is informative: there are online application forms, input from alumni, information about employment, the history of the university, news and details of university events, information about university administration, etc.
  • the site has been recently updated, with new information highlighted for the user
  • useful contacts are listed, including addresses, phone numbers, e-mails, helpful references and maps, etc.
  • frequently asked questions for administrators, staff and rector’s pages, etc.
  • Navigation:
  • content is user-friendly: it is easy for users to find and access the desired content of the website
  • the internal links on the site all work
  • fast download speed
  • Accuracy: any type of communication, whether online, print or face-to-face, should be accurate.
