‘Best university motto’

The contest is open to:

Educational institutions, business schools and colleges.

 

The entrants should:

  • submit their entry online no later than 15 November 2013;
  • provide a description of the university’s history, including its motto (up to 2 pages) and photos (up to 5 images),explaining the grounds for the choice of motto.

Examples:

University of Oxford – Dominus Illuminatio Mea (lat.) ‘God is my enlightenment’ (eng.)

Leland Stanford Junior University – ‘The wind of freedom blows’

Harvard University – ‘The Veritas’ (lat.)‘Truth‘ (eng.)

University of Cambridge – Hinc lucem et pocula sacra (lat.) From this place, we gain enlightenment and precious knowledge‘(eng.).

The winner for this category will be decided in accordance with the following criteria:

  • impact and presentation;
  • creativity and uniqueness;
  • clarity of message;
  • concept and relevance;
  • historical background; and
  • extent to which the motto reflects the university’s main strategy, goals and objectives.
